Easter Floral Designs and Gourmet Gifts

It is said that the first Easter morning took place in a garden. It is fitting, therefore, that we still use fresh spring flowers to represent all of the celebration and renewal of Easter Sunday. Whether you awake early to attend a religious service, or to bring the kids to an Easter egg hunt, this is a special day of family traditions and togetherness. At Trias Flowers, our designers have created gorgeous Easter floral designs that will infuse your customs and celebrations with beauty. Did You Know? The Easter egg, always a symbol of new life, was originally arranged in twigs and grasses resembling a bird's nest. This tradition eventually evolved into grass and wicker baskets, and finally the Easter basket we know today.  Read More about Easter Floral Designs and Gourmet Gifts »

Florals for St. Patrick’s Day

It is said that everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day - so whether you are one of the 36 million Americans who can claim Irish heritage, or you simply love to celebrate this festive holiday, it is time to go green! March 17th is St. Patrick's Day and Trias Flowers has all the green you'll need to dress up your home or office. Did You Know? Although many might associate the 4-leaf clover with St. Patrick's Day, it was actually the far more common three-leaf shamrock which was used by Patrick to teach his Irish converts about the Christian doctrine of the Trinity. Should you wish to find a 4-leaf clover, you will need to invoke the "luck o the Irish" - there is only one for every 10,000 clover stems that grow.   Read More about Florals for St. Patrick’s Day »

Celebrating Mardi Gras in Miami

The celebration originated in the 1st century, known in Rome as Fat Tuesday (although there were similar pagan festivals for hundreds of years prior). Tuesday was reserved for gluttonous feasting before the Lenten period of fasting and penitence that would begin on the following day, Ash Wednesday. The custom caught on across Europe and in France, it was translated to "Mardi Gras".  When the French explorer Bienville disembarked in North America, he named the land "Pointe du Mardi Gras". He also established several other French settlements in the territory that would become Alabama and Louisiana.  French settlers immediately began Mardi Gras festivities,  including masked balls and opulent dinners. Over the course of the next 150 years, celebrants added night time parades illuminated by flaming torches, complete with revelers dancing in full costume, marching bands, and decorated floats. Did You Know? In some places, it is illegal to ride a Mardi Gras float without a mask. Read More about Celebrating Mardi Gras in Miami »
