Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children. ~Alex Haley
Grandparents Day is observed on the first Sunday after Labor Day. In the early 1970’s, a West Virginia mother and grandmother named Marian McQuade started a one-woman crusade to see a day established to honor the legacy and contributions of our grandparents, and she saw her dream realized when Jimmy Carter made the holiday official in 1978.
Marian didn’t hope for parades and press coverage – rather her vision was to encourage family togetherness and the preservation of personal histories and legacies. Her perfect day included reunions and get-togethers attended by many generations, to inspire conversation, story telling and sharing. Of course, she also hoped that grandchildren would take the opportunity to get to know the older generation, and to express their love and appreciation for them. It is in this spirit that Trias Flowers offers the Grandparents Day collection, guaranteed to make them smile!

Over the decades, many things have changed. Even our idea of grandparents is different – they are not necessarily gray-haired elderly wearing orthopedic shoes! In fact, with the average age of the first time grandparent being 48 years old, grandchildren today experience a much more active and fun grandparent, (even if Grandma and Grandpa are exhausted at the end of the day) .
But many things have not changed over the years – most notably the great love and magical connection between grandparents and grandchildren. While no one can quite explain the bond scientifically, it is most certainly there, and all research points to the fact that a child who grows up with an actively involved grandparent is happier, more confident and more successful throughout their lives.
This Grandparents Day, as always, you can trust the experts at Trias Flowers to create the most exquisite floral arrangements in Miami. Whether you need flowers, plants or gifts for your special occasions, we’ve got what you need.
