The term “Secretary” is rarely used now, for good reason. Although not an official holiday, the observance on April 27 is an organized recognition of those key personnel we value so highly. The day is celebrated across the United States, as well as globally. Once named National Secretaries Day – during World War II – the name and the image has been upgraded to more accurately reflect our world and the dynamic nature of the workplace. National Administrative Professionals Day is not only a day to thank people; in fact, the organization which is behind it, the International Association of Administrative Professionals, exists to offer ongoing continuing education opportunities, to connect professionals around the world, and to set industry-wide standards of excellence. We’ve come a long way from the secretarial pool!
